ON THE WALLS

Janene Gentile

Abstract Expressionist Painter & Mixed-Media Artist

At The Parlour, the art on our walls is part of the room and it changes. We feature the work of Hudson Valley artists for limited engagements, giving you something new to discover, live with for a while, and perhaps take home.

Currently on view: Janene Gentile

Tivoli-based artist Janene Gentile creates dynamic abstract expressionist work driven by texture, movement, and raw emotion. Drawing from action painting and post-punk rhythms, she combines gestural brushwork, vibrant color, and unexpected materials—from recycled elements and structural reliefs to clay figures on raw canvas and cardboard.

The result is tactile, energetic, and unapologetically physical: work that rewards a closer look.

Talk Nation Magazine recently named Gentile one of the “most notable Abstract Expressionist American painters to emerge out of New York in this decade.” Her work is held in prominent private collections and represented by Tivoli Artists Gallery in Tivoli and Art Central Galleria in New York City.
